Bay101 Questions
Will be in San Jose next week and was hoping someone could help me understand a few of the minor details...I usually play in AC and know that different geographies have slightly different practices.
So... 1. I've heard that Bay101 runs a 5-200 Spread limit game that basically plays like no limit. I'm a 1/2 NL player so was wondering if anyone has played the Bay101 game and if it indeed is basically the same game. What is the typical PFR? What is the max buy in (same as the max bet, $200?)Also, I understand that the button pays the drop? Is the structure something like 3-2-5 (button-sb-bb)? 2. Does the game run all the time and if not what does run that most resembles NL? 3. Posting required? How much ($5?) 4. Are there chiprunners? If not, purchase chips from a counter before getting a seat? 5. Finally, how are the games mid-week? Plenty of fish or full of local sharks? Any info provided is much appreciated. |

[/ QUOTE ] BB 5, SB 3, Button 2. [ QUOTE ] 2. Does the game run all the time and if not what does run that most resembles NL? [/ QUOTE ] All the time that I've ever been there. [ QUOTE ] 3. Posting required? How much ($5?) [/ QUOTE ] Yes, yes. [ QUOTE ] 4. Are there chiprunners? If not, purchase chips from a counter before getting a seat? [/ QUOTE ] Yes [ QUOTE ] 5. Finally, how are the games mid-week? Plenty of fish or full of local sharks? [/ QUOTE ] It's much tougher than Vegas 1/2. I can usually hold my own in Vegas 1/2 and most 2/5, but I'm often a fish at Bay 101 5-200. |

[ QUOTE ] What is the typical PFR? [/ QUOTE ] $15 - $20. [/ QUOTE ] $15 has been too small at any table I have sat at. $20 + 5 per limper is probably a good base. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Also, I understand that the button pays the drop? Is the structure something like 3-2-5 (button-sb-bb)? [/ QUOTE ] BB 5, SB 3, Button 2. [/ QUOTE ] $5 rake dropped from pot if there is a flop or if there is a PFR. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] 2. Does the game run all the time and if not what does run that most resembles NL? [/ QUOTE ] All the time that I've ever been there. [/ QUOTE ] Generally 3 tables. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] 5. Finally, how are the games mid-week? Plenty of fish or full of local sharks? [/ QUOTE ] There are quite a few regulars, including some regular donators. Remember implied odds are capped at 40 BB unless you get a stack. This makes calling raises generally a bad idea. Frequently tables will be limp fests pre-flop unless you have an ultra-lag at the table. GL, maybe I'll see you there. -Mike |

Re: Bay101 Questions
Besides the 5-200 spread (5-3-2 blinds incl Button), they run a 10-200 spread (10-5-5 blinds, $400 max buy-in, $200 max raise). Players can go all-in by rerasing each other (I raise to $100, next player reraises to $300 <100+200>, I can reraise to $500 <100+200+200>, etc).
I think there is a $5.00 drop on both games, $1.00 drop if there is a chop (off the button's blind) AND $5.00 drop if there is action PF but no calls (eg. folded to who CO raises to $20 with AA, button and blinds fold. CO wins $5.00, dealer drops $5.00). HTH, Rod |
