What's a Magoo Fest? Is it something I can just drop in on?

[/ QUOTE ]
I've never attended one of these fabled, legendary events and would like to attend the next one.

From what I understand, think about the cartoon character "Mr. Magoo" blindly playing huge stacks of chips at a poker table. He can't see well enough to play decent poker, but he spews mucho chips into the pot. Think any two will do. Also, apparently, large amounts of alcohol are a big plus.

btw, Huge stacks of chips could include so many chips that individual players commandeer rolling carts to bring them to their seats.

Oh yeah, it's a fest because you need to think of 10 players at a table who are all magoos.

The first time we had one of these, we bought out the MGM of blue chips between 4 tables! I think the "main" game we were on upstairs had something like 4k in blue (dollars) on it at one time.

This is awesome timing. I allready had a Vegas trip planned for that week. I allready have images of blind capping before the cards are dealt.

1. You can get sent to JAIL during the tournament! There will be a jail set up right there in the room, complete with a sadistic warden and everything. And yes, your sorry butt gets blinded off when you're in JAIL.

2. I'm arranging for nothing but HOTT CHICKS to deal the event! The people rejoiced!

[/ QUOTE ]

Any chance of a hot chick sadistic warden while my sorry butt is in jail? Please? PLEASE????

The term "Magoo" came from this guy Zeus saying that guy plays like the near-sighted Mr. Magoo, he can't even see his own cards and he sure doesn't know what to do with them.

Your suppositions about the chips are not far off. MGM stocks a buttload of extra chips for us during Magoo Fest.

Hi Al,

I've been to at least one Capone Magoofest (upstairs MGM) and thought it was great!

The last one I went to, I got there about 11:00 pm and the 2+2 Magoofest was already over with before I got there! WTF? Is this Nebraska or is this Vegas!!!

Whenever you hold it, PLEASE make it go until at Least midnight. Some of us 2+2 nightowls like to howl!

Thanks,

Hojo Rising

I never stay in hotels here so I'm not sure on when the best rates are, what about near the tail end of the wsop? Speak up people!

August room rates are the cheapest there are except December and the first week of January.

A search on kayak.com for the weekend of August 24th-26th for instance produces sample rates for mid strip hotels of:

Imperial Palace $122/night
Excalibur $144/night
Flamingo/Tropicana/Ballys All ~$150 a night
Paris $179/night
MGM $190/night

The above can probably be had at slightly lower rates as well, espcially if you can take advantage of Harrahs Best Rate Guarantee.

And if someone needs really cheap accomodations there is always Casino Royale, or several downtown places that are actually nice for under $75 a night.
