Default Re: Best 3 song run on an album?

I tried to go with something a little more obscure

David Banner - Mississippi: The Chopped and Screwed Album (not the regular cd)

16. Mississippi
17. Cadillac on 22's
18. Fire Falling

Waylon Jennings - Honky Tonk Heroes

7. Ride Me Down Easy
8. Ain't No God In Mexico
9. Black Rose

Probably not the best overall, but some off some albums I like...

Fuel - Sunburn
2) Bittersweet
3) Shimmer
4) Jesus or a Gun

Green Day - American Idiot
1) American Idiot
2) Jesus of Suburbia
3) Boulevard of Broken Dreams

[/ QUOTE ]

Man, I havn't thought about Sunburn by Fuel in Years, but those are indeed three really strong songs.

On American Idiot, the third track is actually Holiday, which is much much better than Blvd. Those three tracks are fantastic.

I'll throw in:

Southern Rock Opera - Drive-by Truckers
2.1 Let There Be Rock
2.2 Road Cases
2.3 Women Without Whiskey

The Dirty South - Drive-by Truckers
2. Tornadoes
3. The Day John Henry Died
4. Putting People on the Moon*
5. Carl Perkins' Cadillac
6. The Sands of Iwo Jima
7. Danko / Manuel

* - This is a killer stretch of songs, except for Putting People on the moon. The Day John Henry Died is the best song on the disc though, so you can't just go 5-6-7. :/

Full Moon Fever - Tom Petty
1. Free Fallin'
2. I Won't Back Down
3. Love is a Long Road
(Into the Great Wide Open would have qualified if Learning to Fly was track 2 instead of Track 1, would have gone that, ITGWO, Two Gunslingers.)

Ether Electrified Porch Music - Carbon Leaf
1. Ordinary Eyes
2. Home
3. Nowadays

Wish I could think of more...

Beastie Boys - Check your Head

To All The girls
Shake your Rump

I think you'll have trouble finding these songs on CYH...and as far as a Paul's Boutique run, I bet there are ten better.

Hrm, I used to really hate it, but after a few more listens I upgraded it to "boring". If I thought it was a great song, though, then Henry/Moon/Perkins might be my winner for best three song run on any album, as Henry & Perkins are two of my favorite songs.

On a side note, I really like Pink Floyd's The Division Bell, so I'm probably not paying enough attention.

I think U2 actually wins this thread, but another good one:

Rolling Stones - Exile on Main Street

1. Torn and Frayed
2. Sweet Black Angel
3. Loving Cup

or

1. Let it Loose
2. All Down the Line
3. Stop Breaking Down

1. The World Has Turned and Left Me Here
2. Buddy Holly
3. Undone - The Sweater Song

this is def. the best config for the blue album, and I think is my current frontrunner for best overall 3 in a row. It's really tough pick between this, the aforementioned Wu-tang forever 3 (it's yours, better tomorrow, triumph) and the assortment of beatles/zep triads that all have merit.

Black Crowes - The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion

1. Sting Me
2. Remedy
3. Thorn in My Pride

or

1. Remedy
2. Thorn in My Pride
3. Bad Luck Blue Eyes
