Re: Bonds Haters: Please post why you hate Bonds
[ QUOTE ]
For one, Bonds definately averages more HR per game than Williams. Not sure how you came up with the wrong number. [/ QUOTE ] youre right. i made a mistake on that. i ran the numbers in Excel from baseball-reference.com and the colums got bumped over. i used the wrong number. bonds beats williams in HR/AB and HR/game. i wasnt trying to exclude any stats intentionally. i just threw several up there for discussion. now that i look at that stat, it was collected until the last few years of williams' carrer. bonds beats in this category hands down. |

[ QUOTE ]
Ted Williams was by all accounts as big a dick as Bonds he just didn't juice. [/ QUOTE ] No, he wasn't. Ted Williams had hundreds of friends and was loved by his teammates. He was just a dick to the media and somewhat cantankerous. He is not even in Bonds' league as a prick. And he was a better hitter. |

Career Stolen Bases
Bonds-510 Williams-24 (not a typo, only 24) Bonds- 7 MVP's Willaims- 2 MVP's Bonds was/is probably the best defensive left fielder in the history of the game. Even if Williams was a better hitter, Bonds is the better complete player, by far. |

Re: Bonds Haters: Please post why you hate Bonds
[ QUOTE ]
And he was a better hitter. [/ QUOTE ] Bonds was a better hitter, by far, at his peak. Hell, even now...Bonds EqA this season, at age 43, is .425. Williams career high was .420. Let's look at their best individual seasons: EqA above .400 (adjusted for all time, min 100 games): Bonds .456 (2004) Bonds .453 (2002) Bonds .427 (2001) Williams .420 (1941) Bonds .412 (2003) OPS above 1.200 Bonds 1.422 (2004) Bonds 1.381 (2002) Bonds 1.379 (2001) Williams 1.288 (1941) Bonds 1.278 (2003) Williams 1.257 (1957) Simply put, at his peak, Bonds was a better hitter than Williams ever was, without a doubt. Christ, the man holds the single season records for OBP, SLG, HR, OPS, Adjusted OPS, EqA, and Adjusted EqA. You find a meaningful sabermetrical measurement of overall offensive performance, and it is guarenteed Bonds holds the single season record in it. The man has no peer at the plate. Period. |

Re: Bonds Haters: Please post why you hate Bonds
RedBean, you keep throwing in "at his peak", why? Do you always measure the greatness of a player by their peak alone?
