Apocalypse Next? Don't Worry About UIGEA. Worry About BOTS!

As most of you are aware there is a HUGE amount of info now being posted about bots at Full Tilt. If this turns out to be true, damage to the poker world could be larger than UIGEA and my previous posts here will seem like Christmas at Disneyland.

Even I thought the worst might be over which is why I have been having fun over at NVG. I did not even expect this. I was aware of the potential bot problem but (foolishly) believed the crap the sites dish out about how they have all these "secret" ways to prevent bots and keep the games fair.

If the bot issue turns out to be a reality, even those who are still playing online may quit. After all, if everytime you sit down at Tilt or Stars or wherever, you have to worry about one or more bots at the table, how can you play? How can you play if you even suspect you are not getting a fair game?

And if this gets out into the mass media--BOOM-- it will really scare people away from online poker...as if UIGEA has not done enough damage. And UIGEA has not even yet fully hit.

Furthermore, I don't even know if the bot problem can be solved by the pokersites. Tech advances so fast that even if the sites find a solution the bot makers will find a way around it.

Bottom Line: If the bot issue turns out to be as bad as it is starting to look, it could be more damaging to poker than UIGEA.

Funny thing is that I think I can beat bots at poker. Do they call continuation bets? Do they make continuation bets?
Etc. Etc. I can see how a computer could be expert at chess, but not NLHE; too many variables.
