Shortstacked homegame

Hi,

I was playing a standard homegame with some friends of me, all of them are pretty bad. We were playing 0.25/0.5 Which is higher then the normal games, most of the players are students and broke.

This is the point,, EVERY single person bought in for the minimum, 20 bucks. how to play? obv. it doesnt even make sense to buy in for more than 20 on that moment..

This question is way to general.

If you think you have an advantage on everyone then you should always cover the biggest stack.

When you're playing with effective stack sizes of 40 bb's your implied odds go down. This means, in general, that you need better hands to play.

Just talk about making the blinds 0.1-0.2 if everyone buys in for 20 anyways.

or 0.05-0.1. small stakes homegames with friends are meant for fun, and deeper stacked = more fun.

Jeah, i figured the question was to general but i wanted to ask i fast or something lol.

Normally i buyin for 20, and buyin more if someone doubles up. I do it that way bc the guy who accomodizes the game takes 10% off your buyin instead of rake. seems a bit odd but drinks are free.. so buying in 50 at once will cost me 3 dollars more if i don't need the additional 30 afterwards.

lol when someone asked how much to buy in is obv said 50 max and everybody was like wtf?? 50?!?! it's 20! i didn't care to explain but damn every single one of them thinks they play great...

and i understand that it is for fun instead of money.. but on the other side. i just play NL100 normally, if everybody would buy in for 50 it could be even more profitable.

You're playing with like 40BB stacks so the hands you do play with should be able to win hot and cold which means the hands should win often when they are all-in. Stacks are way to small to play with speculative hands as well. If I was to play a speculative hand it would be in position and I would try to stay the aggressor with it (IE if there is a limper I would raise with a speculative hand and play my position). Also raises will probably be answered with big reraises that leaves someone all-in so be careful. You don't want to go splashing around and putting in raises as a semibluff to only be answered with a allin reraise that you can't call.

Its funny that your .25/.50 NL game with college kids plays so short stacked. We have a .25/.50 .50/1.00 NL game at our college where everyone buys in like 200BBs.

Ya i guess they want to play 'high' but don't want to risk any money or something, like i said, they don't even know that a standard buyin is 100bb..

Next time i'll just buy in first with 50 and hope they follow through.
