Re: 8/16 live, 98s
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] to call with 89s UTG is to weak, fold it pf. River depends on the board what came on turn and river? [/ QUOTE ] 98s is a terrific hand in loose passive games even utg, i dont know what you're talking about. online TAG games, 98s UTG is pretty crappy unless you're coming in for a raise (and then still this shouldnt be done that often). i think the former applies here. oh yeah, and bet the turn. [/ QUOTE ] I agree with Chino, 89s utg1 is perfect in these LIVE games, poor call in your typical online game today, but 8/16 live plays a lot like .5/1 online, 6 to the flop every flop. I also play the 8/16 at Bay. Usually I would raise this flop |

Re: 8/16 live, 98s
Call flop and try to build multiway pot... once that had failed. Bet/ Raise him on the turn and see if you cant pop him off 9A, 10s, JJ, or who knows... maybe even a pair of queens. If they call strongly consider checking behind on the river without improving.
If you do improve to say a flush your gonna wish that you had bet while you had pair and flush draw... And who knows... maybe your hand is best. |

Re: 8/16 live, 98s
I guess because of the action behind you calling is ok on the flop but raising is an option, no?
HU on the turn why not bet? |

Re: 8/16 live, 98s
just looking at the board, it's really hard to make two bricks. Did you get like 42 or 32 or something?
I think betting the turn and checking the river is best. As played I think I check the river. You might want to bet it to avoid showing down your hand, but that's pretty FPS. |

I don't think you have enough FE to bluff here.

Re: 8/16 live, 98s
[ QUOTE ]
bet the turn for value. valuebet the river. [/ QUOTE ] I'm glad I'm not the only person who thinks this. I thought I was in a twillight zone after reading some of the other responses. We have a decent hand and a great draw. Let's maximize our equity and bet. I would also raise the flop, as DrModern said. |

Also, can someone tell me why not raise the flop for a free card? is that bad?

Re: 8/16 live, 98s
What do you guys think he pays off the river with, given the description and action?
I don't think it matters that much because I think he folds like 95% of the time, but the other 5 I think we get called by J9/T9. |

Re: 8/16 live, 98s
[ QUOTE ]
What do you guys think he pays off the river with, given the description and action? [/ QUOTE ] busted nut flush draw. most pocket pairs. the turn check, river bet line on that board will look enough like a busted draw taking a stab at the pot it should solicit calls from some fairly weak hands. i do think he folds a good portion of the time, but that doesn't mean we don't have a thin value bet on the end. |
