Default raked game question

I went to this 1/2 game last night, hadnt been there for awhile. Last time I went the owner had hired dealers as he had more than one table going.
This night the owner was dealing the game, and people were still tipping like normal. I thought this was odd. I didnt think tipping was neccesary considering he was the one taking the rake.
Thoughts?

There was a raked game I played in for a while where the owner dealt for the dealer on break. He always said "<dealer's name> thanks you" and would always give the tips to the dealer when they returned.

FWIW, it's not a good idea to play in these underground games. You're undoubtedly paying way too much rake, and your overall $/BB goes way down if you factor in the odds of getting robbed/busted.

Does that analysis take in to account the much softer games usually found at underground games?
Does it take in to account the savings of gas/tolls/milage and time?
To me it is worth quite a bit to be able to go play for 2-3 hours and come home and only travel 3 minutes each way, rather than the 2.5 hours each way to AC

I could go either way. I think if I liked the game (ie fair rake) and host I would tip. Though Id certainly tip less than Id tip a regular dealer

Yeah, I only went to the game becuase it was close and I wanted to play for only a couple hours. Funny thing is the game did get busted that night, But I was just curious about the tipping thing.
