It's better because if you lead anyone with a gutshot and anyone who limped in with one over is peeling the flop.(Q2o might fold from the BB)
Someone usually bets this flop, often looking for a free turn.

The limit makes a huge difference in whether to bet for value or attempt a c/r for hand protection. Lower limits you're much less likely to get someone else to bet for you on this flop.

But you don't necessarily get to C/R "in a good spot", BB might take lead thus negating any advantage you might have had C/Ring the flop + they might raise with worse holdings on the flop to protect their hand / get a shot at a free turn.

the limit is 4/8
3 folds, MP limps, 1 fold, MP2 limps, CO limps, Button limps, Hero sees KdJd in SB and limps in, BB checks. Flop Jh7c3s Hero bets, BB folds, MP calls, MP2 folds, CO calls, Button calls Turn 7d... hero betting still seems obvious, would anyone argue against it?

the turn is kind of standard, no arguments can really be made for checking, its the least interesting street in this hand

IMO the most interesting card in the deck to come on the river
