I've called a healthy reraise (or all in) w/ KK 6 times in my NL poker career, and every single time was up against Aces.

Re: Is there such a thing as too aggressive with KK preflop?
Is this a reasonable hand range for villain?:
AA 65% KK 10% QQ or worse 25% You pay $195 to win $265 (approx). If you are 18% to win against AA and 75% to win against the goofy holdings then EV=.65(.18*265-.82*195)+.25(.75*265-.25*195)+.1*0 = -$35.43 Edit: Sorry...didn't see hero only started with $90. Big difference. Its actually pay $57 to win $150. EV=$11.80 But it does make the point someone made about calling with stacks up to 150BB...that is probably close to the EV = 0 amount. |

Re: Is there such a thing as too aggressive with KK preflop?
Why is villain trying to shut Hero out of the pot.
The re-raise is just simply massive, or at least it is massive if he is expecting Hero to call, it is only the size of shortstack if he expects Hero to fold. He wants to get heads up with short stack and gamble on his 50/50 taking the dead money from hero to help with those odds. KK and AA are the only hands Hero can call this massive re-raise with. If villain is holding AA then neither of these hands really concerns him and he wants Hero in the pot with him. I just dont see Villains play as making any sense if he has AA. It is a hand in which you have to determine if villain has made a bad move with a lower pocket pair or AK or made a bad move with AA. |

Re: Is there such a thing as too aggressive with KK preflop?
I did indeed call, much to the detriment of my stack. Interestingly though, the small stack had Queen 3 of spades, I asked him why he would play it like that and he simple said he was bored. Basically I almost folded, as this forum has said was incorrect, howvever the quickness of the small stacks call after the original call had led me to believe that HE had aces, so I thought my chances were good.
