Default 50NL- Big Slick facing a 3bet

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (5 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

UTG ($59.23)
MP ($34.10)
Button ($57.22)
Hero ($65.30)
BB ($49.75)
Villain seems TAG, he's 17/10 over 50 hands

I seem to be having trouble playing AK preflop when facing aggression in general.
Anyway, what's my play here?

Preflop: Hero is SB with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
2 folds, Button calls $0.50, Hero raises to $3, BB raises to $8.75, Button folds, Hero ??

I don't know about Party POker but 3 betting is becoming much more common at $50 6 max on Full Tilt.

Though its higher variance- it may be worthwhile increasing the amount of 4 betting? That would be an interesting subject to explore.

I have been 3 bet with a variety of hands lately (when gone to showdown) - in the last couple of weeks I've seen hands as weak as 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]10 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 88, AJ... though JJ-AA, AQ and AK are more common. (I believe if there's several callers then a 4 bet... the chances that its a squeeze go up quite a bit)

If you call and hit a King high flop and I'm in position, I'm definitely calling a bet. If I'm oop, I lead some percentage of the time and check call some portion.

Turn depends on opponent and turn action.

I don't like calling with AKs OOP vs a 3bet at all.

2/3 of the time we're going to miss the flop, and then It's going to be very hard to continue the hand. The times we do hit our hand It's going to be quitte tough to get a lot of value out of a 2nd best hand.

So for me this is 4bet or fold...
Thoughts?

I think this is a good idea. Though I'm not going to do it against the 8/6 nit who was at my table last night.

But I think for 100bb or less... if 3 betting is happening lightly, pushing here is good:
(1) AK does better when it sees all 5 cards.
(2) good image - discourages people from 3 betting light
(3) may win a little pot without seeing a flop

I think this is definitely something I'll experiment with...

OOP, i'm a lot more willing to let hands go.

Even if you 4 bet, and miss the flop, then you have to make a c-bet oop.

Even if you hit, you're OOP, so it'll be tough to judge where you are throughout the hand.

Just let this one go.

The nittier the player the more I agree with you. As players get more aggressive, I think letting it go becomes bad. Against hyperaggressive players I begin to favor a push....

Folding is worst option, imo.
call is best, 4 bet is decent.

I play the same, but as always this is opponent dependent. Have you seen this guy 3bet before? Any idea of his range? Against someone who 3bets at all light I put in the 4bet and will shove if I think he may have loose calling standards. Against a tight range of 3bet I ditch the hand.
Against an unknown is when it gets difficult, but lately I go for the 4bet. I stack off sometimes to a real hand, but I get called with some very poor holdings and take down a ton of decent little pots uncontested.
