Hijack question

I have a 20 yr old jeep but most of the main engine parts are new. However, I sometimes smell gas when driving with the windows up. Thoughts?

Is this after eating Mexican food for lunch?

my friend just had the same problem, go buy the maf sensor and the cam and replace them yourself. Its easy and will save you tons of money. Also to everyone, if your alternator goes bad your car will die while running. Eveyrthing will get dim and it will die.

Bad cam sensor
Bad Air Mass sensor
Air boot cracked

Total cost: $800+tax

I called a mechanic I know and he said that cost was legit. Hopefully this solves the problem completely.

Its odd that all these things are bad at the same time, personally, Id get your own mass air flow sensor, as that is most likely the problem after you mentioned your rpm's (had the same problem with my old northstar engine), and just replace it yourself, it is really easy to do. save yourself about 650$, and if that doesnt work, then you can take it in. It probably takes about 20 mintues to swap out the MAS

[/ QUOTE ] the cam snesor is pretty important also. With out it the spark plugs and fuel injection arent beign used at a optimal timing. Could be completly off.
