Stars: Take cash from 1k wsop event instead of $650 bonus?

This may have been discussed already...so excuse me if I missed it.

I noticed that by buying the $1k entry (for 62k points) into the early wsop event you get $850 in cash up front. I believe that is a higher $/point ratio than the $650 bonus, and does not require you to play to get the money. Am I missing something?
