Default Drunk Driving Safeguards

I was just thinking that as a forum, we should come together to take precautions and safeguard ourselves from drunk driving. By sharing various field sobriety tests we've been exposed to so we will know what to expect and can practice them while drunk, so when the times comes it'll be no problem.

I will start. The standard head back arms out I say right touch your nose type test. What almost got me is he never says anything like, put your arm back down. If you just keep your finger on your nose and never move it off you'll probably fail. Now their classic trick is to go right-left-right-right. 100% they will do this. Be ready for it.

Another one is holding your head back with eyes closed and "estimating" 30 seconds in your head. Obviously you want to be doing the "one one-thousand two one-thousands" in your mind. I suggest practicing first while sober, just look at a clock with second hand and try to get the feel for how long a second is. Graduate to timing yourself. Then practice drunk.

Good luck.

Take a little tube and blow in it really hard. Not sure how to improve scores on this one though.

Walk in a straight line.

Some of you can't even do that while sober.

practice standing on one leg and lifting your knee with your eyes closed. Try to stay balanced. Then do the other leg. Also try to do it with your leg straight.

If you only remember one thing in this thread, remember this: when a cop says "have you been drinking"
answer "No"
DO NOT SAY "Oh I only had one or two." The cop will not think oh this guy must be honest I better let him go. He will think bingo, reasonable suspicion justifies a field sobriety test woohoo.
If he says he smells alcohol on you, he's just fishing. I've had cops say this to me when I was drinking vodka and OJ (scentless) and when I had zero to drink. Always just answer no.

If they ask "where are you going?", the answer is always "home."
If they ask where are you coming from, the answer is the dorkiest thing you can think of. Say the video store, the book store, the grocery store, your parents house, the movies, etc. Don't say a party, a bar a club, a show, a friend's house, etc.

GL, and plz don't kill me on the road.
