Any reason why you didn't raise his flop bet? Were you looking to extract maximum value by letting him bet for you? I think it might have saved you from making a tough decision on the end. Am I wrong?

Raising flop is very wrong.

To be more precise, the claim that raising the flop will avoid tough decisions is not wrong.

What's wrong is the thought that playing to minimize decision-making is better than playing to maximize EV.

dustbstsr,

That pot odds and hand reading stuff is definitely a waste of time.

I've been reading small stakes for a few weeks now and have played my way through the micro stakes, and I've yet to get good at reading this type of situation.

Isura: You say that our hand is face up; what type of action would we need to see on this board in order to believe we're ahead? Is it just that an OOP triple barrel from the avg opponent with these stats indicates a very strong hand?

I guess I could see someone slowing down with a missed hand like AK on the turn or at least on the river.

So, would it take a specific read for an opponent to be over-aggro in order to believe he'd triple barrel with a hand like KQ or air?

An over-aggro TAG means he double barrels too much, he's still rarely triple barreling.

I think the main thing is this board is so dry that there's like nothing but a Q that I can have, and there's no reason for me to fold a Q, so it would be retarded for him to triple barrel a worse hand.

There are a lot of retarded maniac villains where I would definitely call river but it's pretty sick here without a strong read.

BTW I would be more inclined to call if I was OOP and check-calling the whole way down because that shows more weakness and induces more triples from tags, but I also wouldn't want to be check-calling this hand anyway.

i think it can be close if we had more info but w/ the read we got it's a pretty clear fold imo.
