Re: Macbooks and online poker
[ QUOTE ]
There is also a Mac beta version of PokerStars available *if* you already have an account with them. There is no facility to open a new account in the current build. [/ QUOTE ] This is outstandingly silly, isn't it? Wouldn't there be way more Mac users who'd sign up to try the beta than there are Windows users who also have Macs and would try the Mac beta? I understand that new signups just aren't something the software does yet, but it seems to me that'd be something you start off with. When Party's Mac beta first came out, it wasn't worth [censored] for playing poker with, but it could create a new account. |

Re: Macbooks and online poker
When I e-mailed PS about their beta MAC client about it, they told me that they could let me into the beta, but that I could only play on their test site with play money tables with it. Is there a way to play on the actual site with it?

it's certainly laggy though after recent FTP updates. [/ QUOTE ] PCs are laggy after the FTP updates. Thats prolly nothing to do with being on a mac. |

Re: Macbooks and online poker
I'm playing poker on the windows side of my macbook right now. I've never had a problem with the dual boot via boot camp. It's great

Re: Macbooks and online poker
you need lots of ram, and pahud hasn't worked more than once under parallels for me and the author isn't helpful at all. I'm currently dual booting on my mac pro and spend 90% of my time in windows (since all i do on my computer is pretty much all poker now adays). Also, the lack of a 1600x1200+ screen kinda sucks too for the mac laptops- even though all the sites I play have resizable tables.

Re: Macbooks and online poker
I was just doing a search of Macbooks and came across this thread. I'm thinking of buying one as a secondary computer and it would be great if I could play poker on it, though I wouldn't be playing more than 1-2 tables. I'll stick with my desktop for large sessions.
I'm unfamiliar with parallels and VMWare and was hoping someone could maybe provide a link for me to help me understand. I've Googled, but am pretty confused. I definitely wasn't planning on installing windows on my macbook. |

Considering how laggy PT + PAHUD makes a native Windows PC I don't think it would function well with VMWare if you like to multi table. [/ QUOTE ] This is not true. I use a Macbook with 2ghz dual intel and 2GB memory with Parallels and it works GREAT! Much faster than my old dell laptop. I use windows under parallels for poker only. Everything runs fast and fine. I am very pleased with the setup. Jonathan |
