sharebuilder
I have a relatively small amount of money (<10,000) able for investment and have been looking over some of the larger brokerages. Is sharebuilder a good choice? It has cheap trades, compared to high fees from brokerages such as fidelity and vanguard.
Is it easy to withdraw from sharebuilder? Is it trustworthy? I know it is extremely large, but it is reliable? |

Re: sharebuilder
I have a Sharebuilder account. I'll vouch for them. So far I've had no issues. $4 trades are only made on Tuesdays. All sales are like $15. They're really good for dividend reinvestment and buy-and-hold investing. If you open an account, do it through Costco. They always have some promo and you'll at least get like a $50 gift card for opening an account you were going to open anyway.

Re: sharebuilder
Personally I find www.scottrade.com to a better option.$7 Equity Trades. You are not limited to the times you can by or sell. For deposit options you can use Money Direct(ACH), check, or wire, although for withdrawals you are limited to wire or check. I've had my account for several years now and have no complaints.

Re: sharebuilder
My parents have been begging me to open account with them for the last week+
Been putting it off is $4 / trade considered competetive for a small timer? Read 50-100 a month invested tops? |

Re: sharebuilder
$4 a trade is the lowest cost I know of, so it is more than competitive. I like Sharebuilder for people who can be absolutely certain they the won't be wanting to trade frequently.
As a buy and hold investor in the true sense, with an investment time frame of years, I find that paying slightly extra at a place like Vanguard or Fidelity makes sense given their better tools and slicker interface. |

Re: sharebuilder
SogoInvest is just like Sharebuilder but cheaper and newer (and they don't yet offer IRAs). It has $3 market trades, as well as scheduled investment plans. Sharebuilder is probably a fine choice though. If you want a Scottrade referral, pm me with your email address (3 free trades for each of us).
