I actually recommend poker players watch the film (read my review). For people not interested in poker, however, there are much better films. I think you'll at least want to see all the cameos by great players, and the recreation of the 2003 WSOP. I knew in advance that it would be bad (why else would the studio have left it on the shelf for two years?), but it met or exceeded my low exepectations.
It was a colossal bomb. It made $2 million so far, vanishingly small for a wide-release film. |

For God's sake, just make a movie about how it is. The poker world is interesting enough without having to "hollywood" everything. [/ QUOTE ] California Split, although outdated, is still worth seeing. Good acting and some good improv scenes. |

They said in the movie (briefly) that Huck was the only player not showing his cards to the camera, so he didnt have to worry about his aces being shown. [/ QUOTE ] But, at the time, they didn't explain why he was doing this? And why no one except him had such a problem with it. At the end we see it was so that movie could have that particular ending. It's not as though he could've known that was he we gonna be in that situation against his father. |

Death Donkey summed it very well imo. Huck is a complete degenerate and very unlikable.
But to the Lucky You haters, I say this: some guys like me have to take our old lady out to a movie over the weekend. Given the choice of having to see some lame sentimental romantic crap or a movie about poker, I will choose a poker movie every time. Overall, I liked the movie, (again, compared to having to go see "The Holiday" or stuff like that). I did leave the theater wondering about colusion, but you guys who reminded me about Huck not showing his hole cards made the colusion aspect more feasible. |

because whoever made it is an absolute idiot. This movie is a direct-to-video specialist. Warner did the right thing about delaying it forever. The best thing would be to can it and put in Wal-Mart for 9.88, before the bad WOM.
