I like the Danish ones better...those Irish ones were kind of horrifying. Interesting how the Irish push their "anti-speeding" ads and not their "drunk driving" ones...

The drunk driving ones are bad as well, not as horrific but still fairly disgusting.

[ QUOTE ]

Speed doesn't kill - inappropriate use of speed does, however.

When someone is shot, they aren't killed "because the bullet was traveling so fast". They were killed because someone pointed a gun at them and pulled the trigger. There's no excuse for speeding in built up areas, but money spent on these kind of adverts would be better spent on campaigns to educate people on observation, anticipation and "smart" driving. Speed is the main contributing factor in a small percentage of accidents. Failure to read the situation correctly, failure to observe the situation properly, etc, account for a much larger percentage.

[/ QUOTE ]

Do you really think that? Speed reduces the options for a driver once a danger arises. Thus, though it might not be the main contributing factor, lack of speeding can result in positive evasive action, whereas someone who is speeding is likely to lose control when that person attempts to swerve or brake to avoid a hazard.
