Villain has played straight forward for the limited time i've played with him. flop Really confused me as I'm not sure what he's calling me oop with in this point.

Bet more on the Flop. Like $0.7 or so. Bet River. Most likely he has Ace with a weak kicker.

Hmm.. I don't think you necessarily played it bad. If you've been c-betting about 50 cents then to do it again with this flop seems legitamate to get some action and it may actually have kept him in. I would have fired another one on the turn to redefine your hand there. As played I would have put in $1.5 on the river. He didn't call OOP with A8, A7, or A3 (we can hope).

Bet more on flop and I'd also bet turn as if looks like youre against a weaker ace and the 8 makes a set much less likely. As played river is valuetown for 2 bucks.

Also, we beat A3, fath.

i agree with all the above.

I would go .75 on the flop, call the raise, check behind on the turn for pot control. The river is pretty close. A $2 VB is not bad, but it is pretty thin IMO. A check behind is not terrible here either, but I think you get value from AJ and AT more than you lose to AK.

AK bets river almost always. Youre losing a lot of value by checking behind on the river.

Thanks for all the responses and discussion. I bet the flop the way I did because just a little earlier I did the same thing and after being called gave c/f'd a scarey turn. Looking back, I probably like a reraise on the flop. Is this justifiable? Does AJ call the reraise or will I only be called by hands that beat me. I can definately see now that I lost a lot of value by checking behind on the river. How do things change if villain calls flop bet and lead turn?

At NL10 AJ will probably call a flop 3 bet, at NL200 probably not from a regular, unless they read you for a maniac

(grunch)

I take it up to $3.00 after that flop check-raise.
