So they hand this case off to some TV crime lab where time is compressed and one of the following takes place:
"We know the terrorist meth lab is stealing the sig, here is the signal strength of the access point superimposed on a map. I'll write up an app to sniff out MAC addresses on the drive over and we can triangluate on the signal and backtrace this bastard."
Or
"...wait, we know the MAC address came was bought at the store on Main, lets just dump all the credit card info used to buy this router there and see where those addresses map to."
One way or another they would be able to track you down, but the chances they are going to try and track you down is probably pretty slim.
