Yoga
Is it cool to do while doing a medium to heavy lifting routine?
Say i do rippetoe or starr monday wednesday and friday, could i do bickram (sp?) tuesday and thursday? Would this mess up my rest? My girlfriend does it, and I've come across a bunch of people who espouse pretty favorable views, and I'd like to give it a try, I just wonder if i'm squating x days a week if adding yoga as well is too much. Also I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts on yoga generally. I know nothing about it, but I know my flexibility is pretty terrible and improving it would improve just about every other physical activity I do. |

Yoga is great. It will improve your flexability and and make you feel like a champ. Do it whenever you can. No reason it would hurt your lifting routine at all. I lift alot and do yoga whenever I can. I wish I did it more.
I dont know what you could say bad about it. |

Yoga is a great addition to an exercise program. While weight training works on muscle groups, yoga is a workout for the internal organs and functioning of the body, as well as the mind of course.

I do yoga every day and it does not impact on any other kind of training. Plus you feel great.

Anyone have any tutorials for yoga? Ive always wanted to do something like this after my morning run, but I dont want to go to a class. I just want to take 20 minutes at the end or beginning of the day to chill out.

Easy, do "The Corpse" pose. Lie flat on your back, arms straight by your sides, feet straight out, with your toes pointing down, and your eyes closed.
Completely relax and let your body go, to the point where you can feel it slipping through the floor. |
