My TV Broke
I turned on the TV this morning, after it worked fine last night, and get no picture. Its totally black. I get sound, and I can change the channel, but no picture. I can't get picture when changing the input from the cable to the DVD or Wii or anything like that, either.
Any ideas? Its a 37" flat screen HDTV-ready TV, so its not like its got tubes that burned out, right? |

Re: My TV Broke
Projection TVs do have bulbs that go out.

Re: My TV Broke
Its 5+ years old, Panasonic hand-me-down from the parents. Way past warranty. Its CRT, not projection.
I made a post over at avsforum, but if there's still no love I guess call a local TV repair place. At least I didn't have to sit through dancing with the stars tonight. |

Re: My TV Broke
You might wanna try opening the back where the power cord goes in and check to see if a fuse is blown right there, happened to a few friends of mine and popping in a new cheap fuse fixed it right up, I think they didnt have sound either though, so this may be a bit more complicated.

Re: My TV Broke
Take it to a repair shop, if it costs more than a couple of hundred bucks, you should probably get a new 42 inch TV.

Re: My TV Broke
Oh, I called a repair place - I had to call four different ones before even getting anyone to pick up on a Wednesday afternoon - and they referred me to a roving Kurd who calls himself the TV doctor. An hour, $200, and much soldering iron later, the TV works.
