Re: 88 in raised pot on 567 flop
def raise the flop. the PF raiser (sb) checked. unless he's a crazy player who is looking to c/r the flop with his AA, he's probably done with the hand.
you have an overpair, plus oesd, raise it up. |

Re: 88 in raised pot on 567 flop
Why should I raise the flop here?
Am I raising for value, or as a semi-bluff in position to buy a free river card. I don't see any fold equity, but I may be wrong. How much should I raise the flop if that is what I was going to do? Given effective stack sizes a push would be just about pot sized, so just shove? |

BB could be betting dry flush draw or top pair over what looks like whiffed AK. |

Re: 88 in raised pot on 567 flop
I don't know where you see a whiffed AK here, MP1? Do people really play AK that bad at 1/2?
I really think that pushing the flop is probably correct, and that I played this hand terrible. I just ran a pokerstove that came out pretty interesting. If I give both players very wide ranges that include all the likely overpairs, sets, straights, straight draws, flush draws, 2 pairs, and pair+draws, I get a range of: JJ-44,AKs,AhQh,AhJh,AhTh,Ah9h,A8s-A7s,Ah6h,Ah4h,Ah3h,Ah2h,KhQh,QhJh,JhTh,Th9h,98s,86 s+,75s+,65s,54s,43s,AKo,A8o-A7o,98o,87o,75o+,65o,54o If this is the range (total 16% of hands) then I am the favorite with 88 (given my 8 of hearts)at about 36% if they both call my push. If only 1 calls, then I am about a 56.5% favorite on the flop. Worst case I get one caller with made straight or set and have 23% equity. But if they both have a set and both call, then I am actually a favorite at 36%. |

Re: 88 in raised pot on 567 flop
Dont forget you could get called by a worse hand like AxHH!
SB whiffed right? |

Re: 88 in raised pot on 567 flop
yes, SB whiffed, but there are 2 guys interested in the pot (somewhat) post flop, I don't think they whiffed.
In the course of playing the hand, 88 just didn't feel like a very big hand, but looking back on it now, it is much stronger. |

[/ QUOTE ] sb c/c a 1/5 pot sized bet and folded on the turn. i think you have a lot of FE. i mean, this is either a monster, (flopped straight), or A7 trying to end the hand now. it's pretty easy to see where you are at. just bump it up to a pot sized bet, and you'll see what's up. |
