why are you raising the turn? I mean obviously you are going for free sd. but in a pot this small it's just not worth it. if it is worth it his range is super wide and he's really bad at poker and I would fire that specific river hoping he has something like 65 or 52 or something. but mostly I just fold the turn.

i like the raise to get the button out(dunno how much this is worth) and take a free sd if neither of it happens you have to fold the River imho

raising to get the button out only matters if:

1. you have the bettor beaten often
2. guy behind will overcall behind you if you call and fold if you raise
3. guy behind will fold a better hand

i don't think any of this happens often, and for the raise to be good, all of it has to happen together.

Well, #3 doesn't have to happen but in this spot it might if he has a better nine. There are also other criteria like if donker has a lot of outs and if donker isn't likely to bet the river.

I think this is a raise or fold situation and is very read specific. Since I have no reads, it looks like SB was going for a flop CR...assuming BTN would bet when checked too. When the BB (you) woke up...he probably decided to just call and wait for a safe turn card. In this case, I fold on the turn.

If you have a read that this guy is a stop and go bluffer...OK, I like the raise.

goodol I think you're going out on a limb there with that analysis; far far too specific. the mind of a LAG works in strange and mysterious ways.

that being said I would fold to the turn donk because I don't think we have enough equity to call down in this small pot. if you absolutely must play on though a raise is better than a fold.

I feel like if you raise the turn you should bet the river for value, and try to get called down by a 5 or a 4 or whatever.

not sure whether I fold or raise the turn. probably would help to have some stats as to how aggro he is.
