Default limping in with 84 suited

over all is liming with 84 suited in a table full tight passive/loose passive players incorrect?

Part of the reason we play suited connectors is their combo value, flushes/straights, 2 pairs, trips. If you play a 3 gap suited connector you are severely cutting down on straight draws.
You could make a profit playing that hand but your postflop skills would need to be far superior to your opponents.
So in a word........DUMP.

possibly 86s but 84s ??? Dumparoni. The only way I could see that being playable out of the blinds would be on the button with all players limping, even then it smells like cheese.

Whilst any hand is playable in the right spot, if you were a good enough player to be playing 84s for a profit then you wouldn't be asking the question...

Something else to think about:

Another thing you're doing when you play lower suited connectors is mixing it up. When you have hands like KQo or KTs in a good proportion to hands like 76s, opponents will have trouble pegging how your hand relates to the flop, and they'll often get it wrong.

So, how do you get a "good proportion"? There are a fairly small number of high card hands that are good to limp along with. Now think about how many low suited un- or weakly-connected hands like 84s there are. If your strategy is to play 84s, then presumably you'll also play 95s-96s-85s-74s-97s-86s-75s-64s-53s-98s-87s-76s-65s-54s-43s. Yikes! Your opponents can now safely put you off high cards. This is now a martini that's all vermouth.

So, the way to get the proportion right is to limp with a few low card hands, and naturally you would tend to choose the best few.
