WSOP Event #2 Dealers Event Scheduling
Just noticed this... dealers event starts at 5pm June 1st, is scheduled to be a 2 day event. Event #1 is the 5k MHE. Event #3 is the $1500 NLHE, usual "first" event - it drew a little over 2500 last year.
Last year the dealers event started at noon of its own day and we did not finish play until 4am with two tables left that returned the following day at 4pm and played eight hours until I busted second. C'mon Harrah's... 16 hour days were not acceptable last year, and this is how the schedule adjusts? Devo |

Re: WSOP Event #2 Dealers Event Scheduling
Rule 90 says they intend to end at 2am the tourneys that start at noon. They have codified that they're planning 14 hour days for most events.
Looks like last year's dealer event took 24 hours. Rule 91 says the tourneys that start at 5pm will go until 3am. So they'll do a 10 hour Day 1 and then have to run from 3pm until about 5am on Day 2 to finish it. So what, exactly, is the complaint? |

Re: WSOP Event #2 Dealers Event Scheduling
Do you have to be a dealer to enter? It's described as "Casino Employees". Does that mean I can get a job as a busboy or janitor and enter the tournament?

To expand it further, do I have to be a Vegas casino employee, or employee of a casino anywhere?

Re: WSOP Event #2 Dealers Event Scheduling
The complaint is that there is no shot that they'll be able to start at 3pm and run until 5am with such a huge event starting the same day. We came back at 4pm last year and the joint was still packed and it was a struggle to simply get two tables going. If they play ten hours on day one they will have about eight or nine tables left assuming the same entries, but I am sure that there will be more this year.

If they have 220 tables that start at noon with T3000 stacks and stop putting in alternates at 1pm, by 3pm they should have at least 10 free tables (how long do they allow the alternates in?). I agree it looks a little tight, but I think they can pull this off. 'Course it'll require coordination, planning, and excellent execution to make it happen, so I'm not gonna give you even odds they WILL do it. But I believe they CAN do it. I'll set the over/under for the start of day 2 of the employee's event at 4pm. I also keep hearing tidbits about their plans to have extra tables and more room this year. But I heard those very same rumors last year and it didn't happen. So I won't be holding my breath. |

Re: WSOP Event #2 Dealers Event Scheduling
Weren't they bragging on more tables earlier when they thought the main event would go over 10,000 entries? They said they were going to use another room. Of course, the reality of what's happened to internet poker may have caused them to cancel that, assuming the WSOP crew pays attention to reality.
