I'd like to have a discussion about small pairs in the SB when it folds around.
I am having trouble with small PP's from the SB- hands like 22, 33 and 44. I think everybody would agree that if you are playing someone who is >16/13, you should raise and you will get a fold most of the time, making it a +ev situation. Anybody with a VPIP between 20 and 30 makes it a little more difficult. These players will call you a lot of the time and force you to make difficult decessions post-flop and more importantly, 3-bet you a lot as well- killing any odds to hit a set. I have two lines with players who run 30/25. 1) Flat call, assuming he will raise 90% of the time, and take my odds to hit a set. By doing this, I also have to flat-call AA/KK/AK to mix it up. 2) Flat call, assuming he will raise 90% of the time, and pull the good old Call/Raise PF. Most players will assume this is AA/KK and fold to any reasonable 3-bet. Also by doing this, I have to do it with AA/KK. My main problem comes with players who are running 50+ VPIP, who I know are going to call ANY raise fin the BB. By raising, you have to play a fairly big pot OOP with a player who could have any hand. However, we are pretty sure we have the best hand most of the time so a raise seems reasonable. So the question remains, what if a player is 75/0. What if they are 60/40? Here is a sample hand: Villain is running 60/10. $2 BB 6 Players SB: $200 BB: $200 SB Holds 2h2c 4 folds, SB... |

I personally think you're over thinking this- just raise 22 like it's AK- they don't know the difference.

betting with four callers is _never_ gonna fold out all of them and then you have a hand oop that will be fun to play with about 1/8th of the time.

[/ QUOTE ] Read the post (or even the title) before replying... I find sb vs bb quite a unique scenario and tailor my raise % depending on his call percentage (and flop play). I don't mind completing sometimes with if his stats dictate that you think he will call a lot if you raise. If he isn't playing back at you much on the flop then keep raising. |

Ok. You raise and the flop plays out..
Villain is running 60/10. $2 BB 6 Players SB: $200 BB: $200 SB Holds 2h2c 4 folds, SB raises to $8, BB calls. Flop: Kc10h5s SB... This is where I run into problems. Remember that BB is playing 60/10 and we'll assume that he also plays loose on the flop/turn/river. For all the people who raised, are you betting $10 into this $15 pot? For all the people who called, what is your play here? |
