Nirvana - Something in the Way

Built to Spill - Nowhere Nothing F*ck Up (probably one of the most depressing songs I've ever heard)

Weezer - Butterfly

Unwritten Law - Before I Go

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Devil's Waitin'

John Lennon - Mother

The Replacements - Unsatisfied

Can't believe no one has mentioned

Black Sabbath - Solitude on the Master of Reality disc.

Has to be one of the all time depressing songs ever. One time my friend was all messed up. i went over to his house and found him sitting in a chair staring at the wall with this song on repeat. I thought he was going to snap.

Eric Clapton - Tears in Heaven

I Didn't Understand by Elliot Smith, his most depressing song (yes, i realize the gravity of what i just said)

Not in english, but Gortoz A Ran from Black Hawk Down is strong with the melancholly.

Also, The Chelsea Hotel by Leonard Cohen is pretty sad. He has one of those downtrodden voices.

You are my sunshine is really sad if you listen to the lyrics. The song itself always made me happy until i took a moment to process what he was saying.

My depression music is Leonard Cohen. He at least deserves a place of honor on such a list. I would add:

So long, Marianne
Famous Blue Raincoat
Everybody Knows
Who By Fire

Manic Street Preachers - The Holy Bible. The whole album is pure bleak nastiness, and also their best. Some clues in the track titles: "Of Walking Abortion", "Archives Of Pain", "The Intense Humming Of Evil"...etc.

I find Comfortably Numb uplifting.

Much of Animals is a downer, as are other parts of The Wall.

Almost all of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (obv)

No one mention Chris issak????
