Default Making tee times

I'm currently just a muni-hack but am getting better each day and would like to try some different courses in my area.

How do you guys generally go about making tee times? Any websites that you recommend? (I live in Northern NJ)

Thanks in advance.

Can you not just call them up and ask about availability?

I'm going to ask a sidenote question though. I have never gone during twilight hours. Do you still get tee times for twilight hours or just show up and tee off when there's an opening?

For my muni courses, there are no tee times, just first come, first serve. And for normal hours, tee times have to be made through their automatic phone reservation system and to do that, you need a county membership card and number.

But yes, I guess for most courses I can just call and reserve a tee time but I was wondering how some of you guys (or gals) went about it. Do you call the courses themselves or use online reservation systems? And if so, are there any good ones out there?

I don't think there are any really good online systems that cover a lot of courses in NJ. There is www.teetimeking.com but you are better off just finding a course you like and then calling the course or visiting their web site.

Here in Oregon there's a site (www.oregongolf.com) that has a list of special tee time rates. You book directly through that site, and savings range from a free cart rental to 40% off green fees. Since I found it, I almost never make a tee time through the course directly.

I suggest looking for something like that.

For the Houston area, I use PGA18 & GolfQ. Both have pretty deep discounts at a ton of courses in the area.

I've used Teemaster quite a bit in the past and would recommend. Pretty limited number of markets, though.

Its just best to call and ask about tee time availability in a certain time frame for a specific day. If you call me and do this I will kill you.

"I'm looking for a tee time on x day, what do you have?
"What time would you like?"
"What do you have?"

I'd just say the 2 most annoying times you have, and if they say no no...then you say 'well what do you want?' haha.
