Default What does tourney player deserve after floor makes big mistake?

Background:

Bill is in the early stages of a $1000 NL tournament.

A situation comes up where the floor is required to make an important decision. This is a rather obvious decision that is standard. It does not require a subjective judgment call, nor is it anything particularly unusual. To everyone's surprise, the floorman blows the decision badly, hurting Bill.

Bill objects to the decision and asks to appeal it to the tournament director or lead floorman. The floorman refuses to allow escalation, and the decision stands, clearly costing Bill substantial tournament chips and equity, despite it still being early. He then busts out of the tournament 15 minutes later.

After busting, Bill locates the tournament director. The director agrees that his floorman made an egregious mistake.

What is Bill entitled to here?

Full value of his equity in the tournament before it happened.

that would never happen for obvious reasons. it would be nice but no TD is going to ever estimate your equity.

i think a full refund might happen depending on how terrible the error was. however I think the TD could easily make a case for no refund (citing "floor decisions are final" etc).
