Re: AK push preflop - standard?
Does anyone else think that opening raiser has a a range of JJ+ here. Maybe Ak. How often is AQ-AJ a hand we see here?
So, seeing as this is already multiway...It is hard not to push but when you think you are behind. Let goooo. It is just AK. |

Re: AK push preflop - standard?
We're pushing to isolate the shortstack, not because we think SB is cold calling the rest of his stack off.
Tminus, think about the hand from SB's POV. |

[ QUOTE ]
think about the hand from SB's POV. [/ QUOTE ] SB doesnt 'think' because OP said theyre both donks. i dont expect to isolate anyone in this spot, i expect them to both call |

Re: AK push preflop - standard?
AK vs QQ vs JJ is about the best you can hope for (AK vs 2 different pocket underpairs)
against actual likely ranges you're a big dog. Hand 0: 25.901% 19.27% 06.63% 448466186 154381901.17 { AcKd } Hand 1: 34.188% 29.84% 04.35% 694434583 101308371.67 { JJ+, AQs+, AQo+ } Hand 2: 39.911% 36.44% 03.47% 848126181 80823069.17 { 77+, AKs, AKo } just call MP's min 4bet push and hope SB follows suit and calls again. when MP 4bets you you are getting ~6:29 (1:5) so call and see the flop - assuming SB calls as well that's 6:1 odds and if he pushes OTT you are then getting 2.4:1 to call his push and can fold. Basically AK holds up here 1 time in 4 - pushing in front of a cold calling SB donk gives him juicy odds to call and then you've put in over 1/3 of the pot and will only win it 1/4 of the time. It gets a bit more complicated cos if you beat SB and lose to MP you still win an OK sidepot - but it's way better to call preflop and hope that SB calls again rather than push and hope SB calls. |
