I see the point about protecting your hand.

But

Your reasoning if faulty btw, you can't add pot size into the equation for betting or not.

I don't buy this. If you can come up with odds of
winning the hand, then pot size has an impact on whether
you get a payoff in the long run or not.

Pot size plays into calling a bet to see a showdown. Not making the bet on the river. That bet is new money and needs to be evaluated on its own merits at the time. In this case however betting could be a decent blocking bet, though Check - fold/call is probably a little more reasonable.

I don't think I can bet into 2 players here, because I'm not getting called by a hand I beat. I'd check here and see what villians do; more than likely I'd end up folding it down.

This is a difficult situation. Normally I know that my set ist beaten, because it is likly that someone has one hart in his hand.
After reading your posts, I'm the opinion that a bet is a good move. Somebody with a low or medium flush card could fold here and you win the pot. If you are reraist I would fold.
If it works you win 9 BB and if it does not you loose one BB. So you need to win this in one of 10 situations to break even.
I'm looking forward to your further comments.

I'm wondering if bet-fold outperforms bet-call here. Do we really suppose that we're getting bluff-raised often here by unknowns? Given a read or some information about the limit (so that one can guess some general features of how the players play), I could be down with bet-calling. But a fortiori bet-fold is best in strict EV terms.
