Is this correct?

$10K in SnG rake = 70,000 points = $245 (Cannon Powershot)

$10K - (70000*.005) $350 = $9650 MGR

$9650*.27 = $2605.50 + $245 = $2850.5 = 28.5% RB

Not including medals...

So is it better never to use your points if you are getting rakeback?

Man I wish that a mod would sticky this so I and other people wouldn't have to keep answering the same question OVER and OVER.

No, FTP points are NOT pointless if you have rakeback. If you spend $200 worth of points (40,000 points), then $200 is deducted from your MGR. MGR =/= RAKEBACK! This means that (assuming you have 27% rakeback, like everyone else) you will have $54 deducted from your rakeback, NOT $200.

In other words you only have to actually pay for 27% of the item's point worth.

As an example, say you purchase the 50" plasma for 400,000 points. $2000 will be deducted from your MGR, which means $540 will be deducted from your rakeback. $540 out of YOUR pocket, which is a pretty good deal for a 50" plasma.

What if the $2000 is greater than your MGR for the month?

Can you have a negative MGR balance for the next month?

yes.

but if you have enough points for a 50" plasma, you probably won't run into this, and if you do it will be brief.

negative mgr doesn't mean you owe them money, it simply means you won't get rakeback until you cover the negative mgr amount.
