Default AK 3bet pot... do I Cbet on scary board?

villian was 28/15 around... i don't have great reads on him... but had not seen him play many 3bet pots... i hadn't been 3betting liberally... this may have been my first one at the table...

is there value in a cbet here? i'm not completely sure what his range is for raising UTG and calling a 3b... but i don't think it's overly loose...

at this point TT/QQ i assume will shut down, JJ/KK/AA crush me, and AK ties w/ me...

Poker Stars - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.50/$1 Blinds - 5 Players - (LegoPoker HH Converter)

SB: $101.15
BB: $437.70
UTG: $102.10
Hero (CO): $124.65
BTN: $74.50

Preflop: Hero is dealt K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (5 Players)
UTG raises to $4, Hero raises to $14, 3 folds, UTG calls $10

Yah- nothing to be overly worried about here. Your way more likely to have the best hand in this situation than you think you are.

You can't really get away from this for 100BB. I'd bet 20 here and call a push getting over 2:1.

I don't think checking behind on flop is terrible, for the same reasons as posted in the OP.

syphlix - folding to the c/r is pretty much your only option unless villain is a drooler. You at best tie is range and are crushed by the rest (unless he does this with KQ)

as for the flop, I'm going to go against the grain here and tell you that checking is fine. Even with the clubs out there, I think you are WA/WB his range assuming he folds something to 3bets. The tricky part of checking behind comes on the turn, because you are going to induce a lot of bluffs and you have to decide if you want to raise or call. You absolutely cannot fold however because you are inducing a bluff.

FYI- you shouldn't be checking here all the time, you will miss out on some value. Just do it some to mix it up and protect when you check behind with a hand like QQ.
