Re: i got a set
why wouldn't he just overcall w/ a flush draw with those odds and our super-scary coldcall

Re: i got a set
our cold call isn't that scary in this situation b/c the RR is so small

Re: i got a set
snap call
this is not one of the places to fold a set in a 3-way pot |

Re: i got a set

call, but i don't understand why you just flat-called in the first place? [/ QUOTE ] to induce action from worse hands (whether it be call [pretty sure this will happen] or raise [not sure how often this will happen]) Here are some reasons why i think this hand is more than just a run of the mill "i got a set therefore i call" hand. 1) I'm getting worse than 2:1 on my money, 800 to win 1400. So if he has a flush or higher set always, then i obv cant call profitably. 2) How often am I going to see a hand like Ax Ks or similar re-isolating the short stack? Is it going to be enough to make calling a better play than shoving myself when the short stack pushes? 3) if the mrdjinn always has a flush here, i think we can surmise that the shortstack has at least a pair of aces on the board or maybe 2pair/set sometimes... therefore i don't have as many outs as i might if its a HU hand. So basically this hand comes down to how often both villains have which hands and is it enough to profitably call. Thoughts? |

Re: i got a set

getting about ~ 2 to 1 with a set (i'm terrible adding up the math in this format)... its a call, you can suckout on the flush, beat two pair, beat pair +FD. you could also look weak in the eyes of the villain, giving him incentive to push with a lot of draws. [/ QUOTE ] him coldcalling here makes him look weak? IF its anything its strength imo.. |

Re: i got a set
to add some more thoughts on this discussion... say mrdjinn only calls the allin from the shortstack and the fourth spade comes on the turn..

Re: i got a set
agree with aejones. if you call shorty's ai, it's to set this up.

Re: i got a set
we just coldcalled 30% of our stack on a monotone dangerous flop... i don't see how that isn't scary.
i almost seem to be talking myself into a fold here, maybe fold is best. what are we hoping for here? tp+spade draw doesn't make sense, they'd almost always flatcall. overplay a9? maybe, not likely. KsQx? he'd have to be pretty maniacal. yeah i think i would fold actually but re: the flop flatcall, only reasons i can see for doing this are: 1. you might induce a loose push because you know he's crazy (you don't) 2. if you thought you might induce a bad call. does red AK really call here? i doubt it. 3. if you thought you could still get away from the hand. points 1&2 seem to require him to be pretty bad, which you don't know at this point. regarding point 3, there are a lot more hands against us that are drawing extremely live than hands that have us beat already, and you should prob. cater your play to what makes up the majority of his hand range and not the minority so in conclusion i really don't like flatcalling |

Re: i got a set
also my post was predicated on the fact that he will just flatcall with a high spade, which is an assumption i'm not sure of but makes far and away the most sense to me
