Jones--I'll take the bait here..Do you offer a rediculous deal just to have the effect of tilting your opponents? Or do you do it just to hear yourself talk? Serious question.

WPR- What's the significance of another player being at another final table during the chop talk? If anything, I would see an even chop as good for him so he can focus 100% on the head's up battle.

I would never give a better deal to someone because they 'thought' there were a better player..Reasons for deals imo are as follows:
1. everyone is comfortable with their percent given relative chip stacks
2. in live games 4-9 players have all befriended each other and chips are relatively even- and the prize is relatively large for everyone (happens all the time).
3.chips relative to blinds are rediculous..making it a 100% all-in fest every hand (also often happens live, especially in rebuy events)

If someone is swinging their stick at the table telling everyone how great they are..you best believe Im gonna want to play my A game take down that 1st place prize myself. why would I concede extra $$ 'just because'....

Hammer, I explained my reasoning for wanting to chop in the initial post. One thing was that when we got down to 6 people it didn't look like a deal would get made at all until basebaldy got eliminated. Since negotiations had already fallen apart with 7 people PokerStars support was not too eager to help us right away again. So if basebaldy did not got eliminated I would have to get 2nd or 1st to get more money that I got through the deal.

I understand your philosophy though. It is kind of like never negotiating with terrorists in politics. I wasn't scared of anybody's skill at the FT... I've played thousands of sit and gos.

It's unlikely that Roothlus, or AEjones have any advantage on a final table.

lol, me too. Why would they not have an edge if they are better than the remaining players?

Clearly, it's both.

I offered the guy that chop HU and then during the break I told him he played bad.

me: How about this, let's play HU for your br- which I'm sure is whatever you win here.

him: OK, we can play 50-100 limit.

me: go F yourself! limit is for homosexuals and mentals retards

me: let's play 5/10 hu on 4-6 tables

him: [array of expletives defending limit]

me: wow you are stupid and bad at poker

... suckouts commence...

me: gg loser

Yea, that's about how it went. At one point I made a sick quip about his mom that had the whole rail cracking up...
