Was John Elway ever even the best QB in the league?

[/ QUOTE ]

Not statistically, but we all know stats aren't as important when it comes to QBs.

And it's not like Elway's postseason record was so much better than Manning's. He lost 3 super bowls ffs.

Elway has never been as good as Manning in any of Manning's top, oh, 5 seasons. The only thing Manning doesn't have that Elway does is:

14,000 passing yards
25 TDs (lol)
an extrea ring.

Manning's career is already better than Elway's.

Granted the AFC was teh suck in the 80's, but it's ridiculous to not give Elway a lot of credit for taking a 'meh' team to the SB 3 times.

I never said anything about not giving him credit.

I agree with all of this. And I'm man enough to admit that I think this discussion would be moot if Peyton didn't get a ring this year. The truth is, Peyton is poised to dessimate every QB comparo there has ever been. In 10 years, I think Rice and Manning will be the undisputed best players to ever play football.

Hence my Tiger/Jack comparison.

But Elway isn't Jack Nicklaus. I don't know enough about golf to throw out a comparison, but Peyton passed him years ago. The three guys standing in the way of Peyton being the best QB ever are Marino, Young, and Montana.

Its nice to see that people have found new ways to slight Peyton Manning.
