Default players sitting out blinds, then pay 1.5sb from cutoff

If this has been discussed in a previous thread please point me there. I couldn't find it.

Recently I've seen several players who will routinely sit out their blinds then play again when the software lets them, i.e. from the cutoff. Of course they still have to pay the blinds (1.5 sb), but they're now playing in good position. Today I watched one guy do this every time the blinds came to him for at least six circuits. I can understand playing your blinds before heading to the restroom, but these folks are using this as a strategy to avoid playing OOP. I've seen this at Stars and Cake, 1/2 and 2/4, six-max and full ring. I can't figure out if it's really +EV for them or not. If so, it seems like a form of cheating. Comments?

It's dumb and definitely -EV. Let them do it.

in one orbit, compare:

play 9 positions, including CO & pay 1.5 small bets

TO

play 7 positions, including CO & pay 1.5 small bets

which is better? and either way is in compliance with the rules.

Instead of playing OOP, they play junk in position, and pay extra to do it. Sound like a good trade to you?
