Pocket pair, Scary river
Villian is 20.9/15.5/2.53 over 5000+ hands. Did I play this correctly?
Edit: BB was 27.5/10.5/2.09 over 440 hands. Re: Pocket pair, Scary river
I think villain has a higher pocket pair more times than not ... and let you bet into him
question ... if this guy (he looks solid) caps or raises the turn you most likely fold right? your line so far looks like a pocket pair (don't know if putting in a 3bet is a great idea) |

Also, should I have maybe made it 3 bets pre-flop so isolate, and not let the BB call? |

Re: Pocket pair, Scary river
Yes, 3bet preflop vs. that opponent. Or more accurately, any time you're going to play a pocket pair on the button with just 1 raiser in the pot already.
As far as postflop goes, if you're going to stay in the hand past the flop (I probably wouldn't have, especially if I'd only coldcalled preflop), then you're basically committed to showing down so long as the board stays ace-free. Or at least, you are once BB folds. That being said, I'd still need a more specific read before I felt comfortable calling that river lead by MP1. Guys with 2.53 AFs on 21 VPIP play don't maintain that by check/calling a lot of turns, so when he calls your turn bet you're beat a lot (or he's drawing to diamonds, in which case you're beat on the river). |
