I believe he most likely called your flop bet with a weak J or over card flush draw. If he hit the King I believe he would have reraise your turn bet.

I would have read your turn bet as weak. You bet near pot on flop and then less than half pot on turn. It was pretty obv that you did not like that King. Therefore I would continue to draw and bet the river regardless.

Ok, I would raise his turn lead bet to $20-$25 in order to see where I stand.

If he calls and checks... I check
If he Calls and Leads.... I fold
If he reraises........... I fold

Why did you call the turn if you were going to fold the river? Either you think he has the K or he doesn't: if he does, you fold, since you're pulling to 2 outs. If he doesn't, you (at least) call the river. You spewed 16BB playing it this way.
