Re: Why is college baseball not more popular?
I live in Wichita where College Baseball is pretty big with Wichita State being one of the best programs in the country. I love going to the games but like someone else said I hate hearing this...

[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] I almost feel like people care more about college hockey than they do about college baseball. [/ QUOTE ] I almost feel like that sentence made me laugh really hard. [/ QUOTE ] i almost feel like it's true. while obviously not at southern universities, college hockey is very big at schools like ND, Michigan, BU, BC, most of the Ivies, etc. If there's not more fans, there certainly seems to be more passion. |

Re: Why is college baseball not more popular?
Outside of St. Louis does anyone not in the northeast even care about MLB? OTOH nobody in Boston/NY could possibly care less about college football, although when April comes around they pretend to have watched the Oregon offensive tackle.

Are there any college players who use wood bats?

Re: Why is college baseball not more popular?
Also college baseball has no major TV deal so its never on except in local markets.
Also for a minor hijack, I think the HR Derby should be contested with aluminum bats. |

Are there any college players who use wood bats? [/ QUOTE ] God no, and it won't change either. The economics of it are just impossible. Think about the total expense of wooden bats over the course of a season. Unlike shoes or whatever else, bat makers can't give out wooden bat for free to pros/colleges because there isn't a non-pro market that can make up the difference. Using aluminum bats means they don't have to use near as many as wooden bats, and they can get the benefits of endorsement because there actually is a legitimate consumer market for them. |

Are there any college players who use wood bats? [/ QUOTE ] Why would they voluntarily handicap themselves? That's like asking if any pro golfers still use wooden clubs. |
