Default HMMM - someone asked me this and i can\'t work it out

you are winning on the turn but by the river the best position you can be in is a split pot.

A. What do you have,
B. your opponent,
C. board?

i was trying to do it with a pair and another pair on the board that turns into a set or quads, couldnt crack it though.

Flop: Qs Js Tc

laeelin's answer is no good of course because you could still win the pot outright on the turn if your opponent has 22 and the river comes anything but K.

must be lots of ways it can happen

How about

You have 44
Opponent has 89

Flop is KKK - you are winning

Turn is another K - you are losing

You need an over card to opponents hand to split

zeppo,

that doesn't work because the 89 is ahead on the turn and can win the pot outright if say a 6 comes on the river.

You have: A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
Villain has K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (You lose)
Villain has ATC (Except K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]): (You split)

Flop is 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]10[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
Turn is J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
River is Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

You're way ahead on flop/turn
By river the best you can hope for is a split.

Another easy one:

You have K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
Villain has: A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]: (You lose)
Villain has: ATC (But no Ace): (You split)

Flop is K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
Turn is J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
River is J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

You're way ahead on Flop/Turn. He has 3 only outs to beat you (case Jack, two remaining aces).
By river, the best you can get is a split.
