Wait a little bit. Buy a 1080p 56" LCoS for $1500 from MicroDisplay.

Yeah I picked one up the other day,

One of the main reasons I got it was when I put the Wii on I can have a cool blue light fill the room. In terms of Pic Quality the HD stuff is good but the regular tv looks a little [censored]. Since I download everything anyway and I only watch sport on my TV or play Wii it works fine for me.

NB: It was mad cheap!

different tvs will have different strenghts and weaknesses. you seem to pretty much know what you'll be doing with yours, so it shouldn't be too hard. your requirements are pretty easy. i'm also in the market for a new tv and my requirements go something like "1 to 1 pixel mapping for pc input, 1080p for hd-dvd/blueray player, minimal overscan for xbox 360 over component cable" etc etc so options become more limited because, for instance, some tvs say will have a slightly blurry picture for pc input. you should be pretty safe with just hi def cable channels and xbox 360 for just about anything.

i'd suggest go to a store and see what tvs look good to your eyes and work from there. can always do a little research on particular models after you've narrowed it down some. also, determine how far your sitting distance from your tv is. sometimes this can sway decisions between particular tvs. for instance, the newer lcds will usually be 1080p which is a higher resolution than most plasmas and older lcds, but if you sit far enough away from a certain sized tv you will not be able to distinguish the difference between a 720p, 768p, and 1080p tv. your eyes will only be able to see so much resolution and then eventually everything looks the same at certain distances. so you can cut cost by skipping 1080p lcd and going for a larger model of a plasma or 720p/768p lcd that are usually cheaper than the newer 1080's. tv shopping is a pain in the ass, just make sure you end up with something that looks good to you and not something that someone necessarily recommends.

Any comments on Sony SXRDs? They were just coming out when I was getting my HDTV a couple years ago and I never got a chance to see one, but supposedly they're pretty sexy.
