God Im such a call monkey because I really really want to call here. There just arent many people willing to slowplay much on the turn with that action on that board and unless he has 45 I dont get it.

[/ QUOTE ]

well i mean we dont have any significant reads on this guy, so who knows what he's playing that way. he could be terrible and slowplaying really hard... he could be a big call box with like A9 who is overvaluing the river and hoping some donkey will call with an 8 ... either way it really doesn't look like a spot too many people would bluff in and i can certainly think up lots of weirdly played hands that beat us.

i heard that the very next hand, everyone sat out until AJ got back in the game. and of course gp rushed to join the list.

loooool

I agree that calling river would be really outrageous, and I hero needs to bet this flop the vast majority of the time. As played I actually like the turn flat call (over raising).

fwiw, I was playing with nlberns just like two months ago and he was an unremarkable to bad tag then with a tendency to tilt if he thought he was being pushed around. Not sure how he moved up so fast, but just saw him single tabling 50/100. Wish I could go on a rush and move up like that.

Edited to add: Forgot, the stakes were 1/2 nl when I played him

It would not surprise me to see that he had 4c5c and just overbetting to fake weakness. It could also be TT or JJ. Checking the flop, betting the turn and checking the river looks like how someone could play KK or QQ (poorly) since AK or AQ would never check that flop or river, and he could be trying to get those hands to fold. So, while this could be a bluff, some bluffing hands beat you.

BTW, you were getting great odds just to call preflop, why not just call and checkraise a continuation bet on the flop?
