The environment now is very much more player vs player than player vs guy who doesn't know what he's doing. Most of the people I play in my HU games are players very much like yourselves.

Guess I'm special since you wont play me anywhere

Ya, if you are who I think you are then you're special There are probably a number of players here who I wouldn't be all that happy to play against, I'm just saying that the average Joe I play against these days has done his basic homework.

well that's pretty standard though just because there is now a greater "barrier to entry" for internet poker.

I'm not sure I could start playing limit again anyway. I mean, I've completely forgotten how. I would probably be folding all the time, being so used to NL valuations... Or calling everything because "hey, he only minbet, he can't have much!"

But I am reading stox's book anyway, just because I compulsively read anything 2+2. It seems really good, once you get past the charts.

"2) Your style probably holds up relatively well against tougher players, but gives up profits against fish. My strengths/weaknesses were somewhat the opposite -- I'm really good about maximizing against fish but don't get as second/third/nth level as some of the true experts on here, which hurts me relatively more under tougher game conditions;"

after rereading i dont think this is the case.

[/ QUOTE ]

If you are who I think you are on UB, I consider you one of the best if not the best player in the 15-30 and 30-60 games I have played in(that's counting the alleged "bots") and certainly someone that always causes me problems. You're always at least 3 levels above my thinking.

FWIW - I am the fish at the table when I play 30-60 and above unless there are some of my favorites at the table, and I have not played more than 15,000 hands of 30-60.

and given what midlimit looks like in vegas unless you're in LA it's probably the place to be.

[/ QUOTE ]

Does this mean you think live midlimit in vegas is good or bad? All the games i've played in seemed easy compared to 10/20 on most sites.

[/ QUOTE ]

simply not enough games, only bel gets anything

as Bryce said the nature of how you win your money has changed quite drastically. I sympathize quite a bit with what Nate is saying because I used to have a game that was utterly ruthless at destroying fish but on the flipside I used to truck money to the good lags in my game. This prevented me from ever really beating the very toughest/top limits online. Now I think i've changed the nature of my game so its quite adept at beating certain types of players but I still struggle with beating other types and styles of play. Luckily the players and styles I struggle with are a lot less common in the games I play now.

Also I think the games were generally so forgiving that you could play a style that neglected small +ev situations and erred on the side of caution b/c then you would generally have a good enough hand to collect your spew/over aggro payments from fish and maniacs going crazy with second best hands. Now a player who tries to do that will simply haemorrage too much money in blinds/failed steals and not make nearly enough back when they do have their good hands.

Here's one litmus test I use for whether or not a mid-limit game is good. If people complain and berate other players in the game, it's a good game. This still happens and call me overly optimistic but I don't imagine it not happening anytime soon.

To be honest with you, I feel the same way. And in all reality, I've made more off of people I know to be pro/semi-pro this year than actual "fish"
