Default Re: How to fix the TWolves

I know this is more or less of a joke thread, (there is no 1 step fix for many teams!) but basically what they "should" do is... For 2007/2008 they're stuck w/ KG's 22mil salary and player option for 24mil for 2008/2009. This team cannot compete as is, the #1 priority is unload KG to a 2nd tier team looking to make a championship run which also have picks.
Unfortunately the only contracts that come off the books (McHale SUCKS as a GM) are basically vin baker's measely payoff (which was a residual from that celtics trade long ago) so they're stuck with a real dysfunctional core. No real good young talent, (their best young player is Randy Foye imo) so really they need to unload KG, stockpile picks, play young talent next year (total rebuilding year) and when Ricky Davis etc. is off the books consider signing a big FA. This team is so far removed from a playoff (or even championship) contender its not close.

One neat deal would be send KG to LAL for Kwame Brown, Andrew Bynum, Brian Cook, and Vladmir Radmonovic (largely his contract). kinda a ken griffey jr 98 trade, but contracts work (22mil/20.3) obv LAL throws in their 1st rounder... it gives LAL a core of KG/Kobe/Odom and has them locked up together for ~2 years... LAL has alot of contracts coming off this year too, they'll be able to pickup any spare parts they need. (prolly resign walton if they can) once they find a new PG they'd be the odds on favorite for next year. (BYE BYE SMUSH)

Twolves would have players coming off contracts w/ that deal, shed KG, and have a future possible good player in bynum and the draft pick. They'll be bad anyway, doesnt hurt to campaign for #1 in lottery position!

Sorry, but this is one of the worst trades ever proposed. The LAL draft pick is in the 16-18 range, which renders it nearly useless. Bynum and cap space for Garnett is an absolute joke. You're a worse GM than Kevin McHale if you accept this offer.

it might take an absolutely collossal failure for McHale to get fired, butchering the KG trade could do it, it would be almost win/win

KG gets a shot at a title
McHale gets fired
the Twolves were going to suck anyway, I'd rather see KG win a title than the Wolves win one given how bad they [censored] his career

McHale is garbage...but wait, he was awarded the best GM award

http://www.forbes.com/2007/03/02/spo...0302gms_2.html

wtf are they talking about? he's horrible. just horrible. the wolves are trash now. we need to ditch garnett for his sake, get some youngsters, keep ricky as a drug dealer but don't let him play and let madsen shoot 3's.

Im pretty sure if/when the wolves get rid of KG the franchise is going to fold. Almost everyone I know that calls themselves a wolves fan is really just a KG fan and would root for KGs new team if they faced the wolves in the playoffs, I know I would.

very true and something that most people don't bring up in these trade KG talks... if this wasn't the case he probably would have been traded a while ago

basically they can't get rid of him until they draft another franchise player
