Default JJ butchered but good

Villain is 17/5/.86 after only 41 hands.

I'm thinking now that I played this fine until I did NOT check the river. The one thing I did like about this hand is that I finally came to my senses and folded to the river raise even though I'm getting 5 to 1 or so. Normally, no always before I would just call here feeling like I had no choice but this time I decided that there was way less chance I was ahead here then I needed to call, like maybe 2% chance of being ahead instead of the 17% or whatever I need to call here.

So to sum up, pretty standard til river, bad river bet, good river fold.

Am I right?

And a follow up question, if I do check the river, whats my play if villain bets say 75-80% of the pot?

BTW props to flopturnriver for the converter that WORKS! I haven't posted a hand in a while but none of the converters worked for me before and it was a nice surprise to see this one working PERFECTLY!!! now.

I like it.

And I don't think I ever check river here vs this villain.

i think hes saying that hes passive enough hes not going to be betting hands that your ahead of. maybe he can elaborate.

i personally check river myself, seeing i get a cheaper showdown. and fold to a raise
