Where is the "Bastard" poll option? Cuz that's obv. the right answer.

In all seriousness, I think MDMAs sums it up best as usual:

[ QUOTE ]
This is largely a result of the gap between our opening range and his calling range; the bigger the gap, the bigger equity against his range we rate to have postflop as well (although it's of course harder to quantify), and thus we gain by putting money into the pot.

I tried this experiment once and the conclusion I reached pretty quickly was that OOP this sucks, but in position it can be okay.

edit: I think the reason it worked out in position for me was because people didn't realize I was auto-checking and misinterpreted by hand range greatly.

Of course c-beting is the standard play... but checking the flop 10% or so is good. Of course checking the flop will put u in more tough decisions on the turn and river... but just because checking the flop is a harder way to play the hand doesnt mean it is less +ev. there was a good post in hsnl like 6-7 months ago by bldswttrs about how always making the standard play that makes the rest of the hand easier to play is not always correct. taking lines that put us in more difficult spots are often way more +ev. we make our money by making every decision better than our opponents so you should make the play that will win u the most money rather than making it easy on urself.

I can see why people might want to check. If villain is one to flat call on button and bet an flop with 100% of his hand range that he called preflop with, then i would say c/r is better because you extract more money out of him the times he doesn't have hand...and most of the time this will be the case.

If villan wont bet with a very high % of his range on the flop the i just lead out instead of giving a free card.

(If i have a read that button will take a stab at alot of pots i will checkraise, otherwise readless just lead out).

i voted bet
