Re: Question about pros and WSOP event #15/16
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] top pros will def play the horse event so this is a good tourney to enter [/ QUOTE ] but, as fossilman pointed out, many will probably play this first, try to get some chips, and then play horse if things don't work out. i'm playing in the nlhe event and am very interested to see how this affects early play. i'm guessing it will be much looser than a typical tourney, but not quite to the extent of a rebuy. then again, what do i know? [/ QUOTE ] The 1500 NLH events are already so loose that you wouldn't be able to tell even if it is looser. So much bad and crazy play, it will feel the same. Plus, it is only a relative handful of players who will possibly be playing looser than they normally would in the 1500 event, so as to be more likely to bust or build a big stack prior to the HORSE event. Don't worry about it as a general thing. Worry about learning which specific individuals at your table might have such a strategy. Later, Greg Raymer (FossilMan) |

Re: Question about pros and WSOP event #15/16
Greg,
By around 6pm-7pm on the day of the HORSE registration, what sort of chipcount are you after relative to the average to actually want to stay in the event? Average? 10% above? 20%? |

Re: Question about pros and WSOP event #15/16
Just some chips. I'm not going to quit on an event, and give up 100s or 1000s of dollars in equity, even if I'm well below average, to play in another event.
For example, average stack in the 1500 NLH by 6pm will be at least 2-2.5 times the starting stack. But if I have even half a starting stack, I'm not going to quit just to play the HORSE. Why piss away $750 dollars in equity? Later, Greg Raymer (FossilMan) |

Seems like you wouldn't care much about $750 in equity. I just found that to be ironic, is all. |

Re: Question about pros and WSOP event #15/16
Neither event 15 nor event 16 will be televised, so those "pros" who are TV event specialists (Richard Brodie, Doug Lee, etc.) will NOT play either one.
According to data found in the ESPN schedule database at intltv.espn.com: Only 8 bracelet events will be televised along with HORSE and the Main Event. The televised bracelet events are events #1, 3, 4, 8, 13, 28, 30, and 31, with events #1 ($5000 Limit/No Limit) and #31 ($5000 heads-up) getting 2 hours of TV time each and the other 6 getting 1 hour of TV time each. Telecast dates will be Tuesdays July 10-August 14 (except July 24). The $50000 HORSE will get 10 hours of TV time in October-November. The Main Event will get 12 hours of TV time in August-September. |

[/ QUOTE ] Looks like they are planning on playing the final table as HORSE and showing most of the hands. That is really the only way to do it if they are going to televise it and play it as HORSE. I think this is a good idea, as the short stacked short handed "he's allin" NLHE has been televised so much. |

(i don't really think that fighting them off has anything to do with money) |

Re: Question about pros and WSOP event #15/16
I'm playing in Event 9 and would absolutely love it if the tougher competition ignored it to play in the HORSE event instead. With the 12pm-5pm splits this year it is going to be really interesting to follow the dynamic of the tournament over the first 5 hours of each noon event. Can someone tell me how long after start times average events were bursting the money bubble last year?

Re: Question about pros and WSOP event #15/16
Remember they are doubling the starting chips this year so play could be different based on that fact alone.
